japanese samurai swords
MrDeadShot asked:

I’m doing a report on ancient Japaneses war fare and I came to finding something we have not covered yet. I need at least some details or sites that explain why there is writing or words. My teach only knew that it was some sort of blessing. Please leave some details or sites that might also help me in my research. Images would also be useful too.

On the tangs of old, high quality katanas, test cutting scores record the numbers of cadaver necks, limbs and torsos successfully severed during testing.

  2. Nihontopride says:

Dozens of info and links can be found from here.

These swords are “Juyo” quality (highest rank given by the NBTHK)

This sword was worn by the 8th son of Tokugawa Ieyasu, One of the greatest leaders in Japanese history.

This blade was made by one of the 10 great students of Masamune, Known to be the greatest swordsmith who ever lived. As stated in the description, owning a blade by this smith is like owning a painting by Leonarda Da Vinci.
