Katana (å) is the word for “sword” in the Japanese language. It is also used specifically for a type of Japanese backsword or longsword (大å daitÅ) in use after the 1400s: a curved, single-edged swo…
I would like to disagree with the description however …. KEN is the word for sword …. TANA or ATANA is the word for blade KATANA is a specific type of blade with a very precise curve, the KATANA is technically the name for the KEN, WAKAZASHI and TANTO used by the samurai after the mngol invasion. It simply means perfect blade or circular blar blade … from KA and TANA KA is as in kaiten (wheel/circle) TANA as in blade.A beautiful weapon
fantastic display …. were the tatami posts wetted? If they were that was one hell of a display …. so many do this with dried posts which is so much easier but judging by the lack of dust these were wet …. they would be the equivalent of cutting through a human torso
I like the way in the beginning how he slices the bamboo and then slices the loose piece again before it falls. That’s a lot harder to do than he makes it look. I also heard an ahhh. That’s the same thing I was thinking! I also liked the close cuts he does on the second bamboo stick. Very skilled work!
And in any case, there are those of us who train with guns and swords. That racist better keep his eyes open. He doesn’t sound like he’d survive very long under battle conditions.

Thanks for your appreciation. Japanese sword called “Katana” has both practical usage and artistic expression, I think.
the way he handles that sword with such ease and confidence and control its like its part of his body! that is skill right there
Yes, it’s almost an art of handling sword.
