i doubt it’ll be real good for only $119

but a nice decorating piece. it probably can cut somethings too

It’s obviously a mass-produced novelty item, so no.

Katana-making is an art form that is still passed from generation to generation in Japan. A really good katana could cost you the price of a mid-range car. ($10 – 12K or more). And they’re custom-made. You can probably get something decent from 2 500$ – 5 000$.
But this? As above, maybe as a showpiece, but don’t let the advertisement fool you. If somebody sold you a computer for $75, what would you expect to get? You get the idea.

If you’re really serious about getting a good katana, you could try e-bay, but unless you really know your stuff or can get the advice of somebody who does, there’s not much point.

Stainless steel is not a real good material for swords, HC steel hold edge longer and better, less brittle.

The first one you listed would NOT be suitable for tameshigiri, or the practice of cutting tatami mats. Personally, I have never seen the sword, but knowing that it is stainless steel makes it not a cutting sword. Like the person above me said, carbon steel and other metals would be more suitable for cutting. Also, I have seen many different online stores for katanas, and I know that topicool is not to be one of the best. It is a large store, but many items are overpriced.
This website is my favorite to buy and search up katanas. You can find a very basic and useful guide for buying a katana and the staff are helpful if u contanct them.
contact me if you have any more questions.

    Edit:
Another note is that you would not need more than 500 dollars to buy a suitable cutting sword. Many good ones can range from 100-1000. Beginner swords are 60 mininum.
If you do chose to buy a practical katana that is not made of stainless steel blade, make sure you TAKE CARE OF IT. I made a mistake of not cleaning my first sword and it ended up rusting. Rust can be taken off however by certain products.

I would always hesitate before buying anything like this that is on a major site. And for a price like that? I would guess that it is a mass-produced piece for sure.
It might be good enough for now, but odds are it is really worth about $5 and will not do what it is sold for…

Why do you want a katana?
