Help with Samurai sword problem please?
heartshapedglasses asked:
My partner is a big collector of all things Japanese and has always wanted a Samurai Sword, to hang on the wall as a decoration. Never to beactually used though, and it will be hung very high up on the tallestpart of the stairs so no-one can reach it easily. So I searched everywhere and finally found the perfect one and got it imported from The USA, and am giving it to my partner for Christmas. Then a minute ago my sister showed me today’s paper and it says they’re all to be banned from tomorrow! I know it covers our sword as although it cost me quite abit of money, it’s cheap compared to some I looked at. Where do I stand now? Am I allowed to give it to him, or not? What’s the reality of ever getting caught if you only have them at home and never wield them on the streets? Also, is the ban just for importing etc or is it for displaying too? Thanks in advance x
This is in the Uk. I posted this in the Yahoo uk page and somehow it’s ended up here.
A picture? It’s hardly the same is it?

I own a couple of swords, actually about 22 of them. Just don’t take them out in public. Your not allowed to carry them. If you keep them in your house for display, that is fine.
Swords, banned? where? I would need to read the entire article to know what they were saying. I am in a medieval recreationist group, the S.C.A., and WE’VE heard nothing about any bans on swords, and trust me, real steel is an everyday thing in this group. Re-read the article and probe for details.
Maybe you can just find a posters of it and frame it instead of having a weapon hanging there. Take a look at
